Silat Suffian Bela Diri – Destroy your Opponent (read description)
silat-suffian.blogspot.com To watch the full video – or to know more about Bruneian Martial Art and upcoming seminars for 2008. ————————————— ONE MILLION YOUTUBE VIEWERS I registered on youtube on the 27th February 2006. I posted the first SSBD video on 3rd March 2006. Incidentally, exactly 2 years later, on the midnight of 3rd March 2008, it past the 1000000 (1 million) viewer mark, and 2 hours later, another 3789 viewers visited my youtube channel. How cool is that – exactly 2 years – 1 Million viewers!!! I know some of you may say “so what’s the big deal with having 1 million viewers?”; personally, in my books of many achievements, this is one of the milestones in my life Im very proud of. Ask yourself, when was the last time you posted something on youtube about “yourself” and within 2 years; 1. your videos are watched and rated – 4 out of 5 stars – by more than 1 Million viewers internationally, 2. well-reknown Martial Arts Masters and professionals internationally from all around the world personally phrasing you and giving their support. Its like for example, if you’re an athelete, Ronaldinho or Micheal Jordan personally emailing you and giving you thier support. I feel honored for them to take their time to do so. 3. you are travelling around the world, experiencing places that you only see in post cards and tasting thier local food, 4. introducing and waving your country’s flag proudly in other countries, knowing that you helped …

i see a lot of kung fu /jkd in the style. Silat looks cool.
Maul is most definitely high speed and low drag in his silat.. I wish I was able to train with him and gain exposure into the Brunei kuntao systems.. It is a pleasure to see the kuntao from different areas of the world..
Maul is one of the best guys I know and consider him a friend in the silat/kuntao community..
and the countdown begins to the 2010 SSBD Odyssey
This is such brilliant stuff. And as a student of Hapkido & Jujitsu, what blows my mind is how well it meshes with what I know. For example I see setups for classic Jujitsu throws, but instead of throwing, Guru takes out the knees and smashes the face. I wish I could spend years of my life just learning this art.
i recomend you to remove your email from deion.cuz you might be hacked by some one.
his nickname should be “Darth” Maul…
Let me illiterate, those who dont really know FMA will only look superficially and say that it looks FMA. And will always try to say that it is and looks FMA.
dear Coldwatch, because of you, i tried to find more info on silat suffian. Many people see it the way i see it, it looks very FMAish.
Master Maul described a historical aspect. the site says that Brunei brought the root of FMA to Philippines before King Lapu-Lapu’s or Spanish’ time which was during Ten Datus period (1240 A.D. and 1380 A.D). If this fact is right then you are right that Suffian doesnt incorporate FMA but is the root of FMA. No points to argue about this though
It’s even funnier you always put a negative spin on everything. U sound very senile.
i never look down on silat. Advanced & sophisticated way of an art doesn’t make it more useful or better than the others. Silat that i know is very fast, dangerous and powerful yet very artistic in its own way even with simpler techniques. My family comes from a long root of Acehnese silat. My ancestors used it in War
I am done arguing with you. Ask Master Maul yourself whether Silat Suffian is pure silat.
Its funny that you look down so much on silat, and try to give credit to other martial arts. Just because its advanced and sophisticated, you assume its not pure silat. Silat is an ancient martial art, FMA has roots in silat, not the other way around.
Im confused why you’re so hostile about? what are u trying to accomplish by arguing so hard over nothing????
)
How can u even try to compare me with Master O’Malley? i am a white belt in Doce Pares sir
wow, is my english that bad that you didnt catch what im trying to say? we admire guru maul so much here. he is like an idol for us, a living legend! what i am trying to say is his silat is way too advanced and sophisticated that we think it is not pure malay silat, it’s already influenced with FMA and many other arts that he masters. i never say anything to doubt his awesome skills!
And also, with the very little Doce Pares Escrima that you know compared to Tuhon Pat O’Malley who is a 7th Degree Blackbelt Rapid Arnis and 6th Grade Black Belt Doce Pares Eskrima.
Its always those who know very little who thinks that know more
Funny that you mention that. Guru Maul travels around the world and has met many masters. He is regarded as one of the best blade masters among Silat and FMA Intructors around the world. Go to his website and read his testimonials. Tuhon Pat o”Malley (8th degress Rapid Arnis, 6th degree Doce Pares), Tuhon Ray Dionaldo (FCS Kali), Bob Orlando, Guru Eric Kruk, Guru Jak Othman, and many more has respect for him. Funny that people from his own region tries to put him down. Jelousy I bet.
or maybe it’s better than Guru Maul answers himself and say that his Silat is pure Bruneian and not influenced by FMA or aiki jujutsu at all
well i am an indonesian and happen to learn a few Silat styles. I also learn very little doce pares escrima here in indonesia. Regardless, you are right, my knowledge is very limited, i only expressed my opinion. My apology
WOW! another know it all… There are hundreds of Filipino Martial Arts and thousands of Silat systems in south east asia alone, not to mention in other parts of the world. You actually think that you know how to differentiate ALL of them? Have you actually met “ALL” FMA and Silat Masters before making this claim? I think not. So its good to keep certain claims to yourself to avoid embaressment, this channel is read by millions internationally, most of them might be more experienced then you
see on 0.30 he plays his hands very fast without moving his hips or body, or even changing his position at all. That’s totally Philippino Arnis’ style, doesnt happen in any of Indonesian’s Silat.
this is not pure bruneian Silat. Bruneian, Malaysian and Indonesia’s SIlat have the same typical techniques no matter their titles.
Guro Maul’s research and extensive knowledge or other arts is very obvious. You can distinctly see Philippino’s arts influence in his techniques. eventhough he bases his style on Bruneian Silat, I dont think his teachers in Brunei has the same skills and techniques
yeah, thanks for tell us about your secert dangerous fighting art. the rest of the world wish we had your secret skills. prove what you say, not what your daddy told you and don’t tell me about that flowery dancing you do.
wonderful art.
brutal….. i love it
i cant believe how much i am addicted to these videos, essential knife disarm is amazing.
COLD BLOODED
malaysia and indonesia hav the same teqnique in silat =D
